About Ron Watson

Ron Watson currently manages the worldwide use of Product Data Lifecycle Management tools throughout ITT Fluid Technology and ITT Motion & Flow Control. Combined they represent 13 value centers containing over 40 companies worldwide.  As the Global Product Data Manager, Ron creates strategies, plans implementations, and provides corporate-level support for Product Data related processes and applications.

During his over 20-year career at ITT Industries, Ron has held a variety of positions ranging from a designer/engineer of electro-mechanical equipment, to support engineer, to CAD administrator and system administrator. Over the years, he has worked with various platforms as well as myriad CAD, CAM, CAE, and data management applications. He has accumulated significant expertise in installing and configuring software, training personnel, and maintaining day-to-day operations.  Ron was one of the key individuals responsible for introducing Pro/ENGINEER to ITT Industries back in 1988. Since that time, ITT Industries has become one of the top ten users of Pro/ENGINEER software in the world.  Pro/ENGINEEER remains the standard MCAD tool suite at these two divisions, and its adoption and expanded use continue as new acquisitions are integrated into this growing corporation.  A genuine supporter of broad-based, knowledge sharing across organizations, he spent over 10 years as a senior member of PTC/USER.

The two ITT divisions had been actively evaluating PTC’s Windchill suite applications since their introduction in 1998 and selected them as a standard in 2000.  Ron has planned, implemented and supported several successful production Windchill applications. Early in 2001, he managed one of the first production PTC ProjectLink implementations in the world. It continues to expand and is in use at most sites worldwide. In 2004, he launched the “Global Vault” project, which utilizes PDMLink and ProjectLink to support a platform for a focused set of applications enabling the sharing of product data information globally.

Ron holds a BS in Industrial Engineering and a Masters in Technology and Education.
