The Cosmo VRML Viewer Preferences

This is the Cosmo VRML viewer configured as a plug-in for a Netscape browser. There are also many user-defined modes that allow the user to configure Cosmo for ease of use. If you are a first time user of Cosmo, you should select the preferences as they are listed here. Once you become more confident with Cosmo you can then go and experiment with the various modes of operation.

The Dashboard

This is the Cosmo VRML viewer dashboard. There are many keyboard macros that can accomplish all of the modes shown here. For example, to get into the preferred viewing mode, [Shift + ~] from the keyboard is the same as toggling the Mode shifter. You will know you are in the preferred mode when you see as your mouse cursor.

World Settings

These modes can be of your preference.

Performance Settings

Because the VRML file is so compact and reads in at blazing speed, Best Quality mode is recommeded. If, however, you experience slow performance you may require the Fastest mode.

Mouse Settings

These modes can be of your preference.

Keyboard Settings

Using the Turbo Mode and Continuous Seek mode will allow you to zoom in on an area by just left mouse clicking on the object. This mode is strongly recommended!

Advanced Settings

Virtual Trackball is an advanced mode that is not intended for the beginner. The Standard Examiner mode is preferred by the novice.

Graphics Settings

If you are running WindowsNT you may have a graphics card that supports OpenGL. However, if you are unsure of your graphics capability use the Automatic Renderer Choice to be safe. Windows95 does not support OpenGL.

Audio Settings

If you are fortunate enough to have speakers with your PC, these are the preferred settings.
